The Department of Electrical & Electronics Engineering, established in the year 2009, is providing quality professional education to aspiring engineers. The department had an annual intake of 60 from 2009 to 2017 admissions, and 30 from 2018 admissions. We are offering Under Graduate program under the Kerala Technological University from 2015 admissions. The department has 10 well experienced and dedicated faculty and aims to impart strong footing in the basics to sound knowledge and awareness in the latest developments in the field of Electrical and Electronics Engineering.

We have seven well equipped state of the art laboratories and one electrical workshop to provide the students with the necessary and sufficient backing of practical knowledge. The laboratories include Electrical Machines Lab, Measurements and Instrumentation Lab, Analog, Digital and Embedded systems Lab, Power Electronics Lab, Systems and Control Lab andPower Systems Lab. An equipped seminar hall and Department Library with reference books, journals add the ambience of learning atmosphere.

The department has consistently achieved very good results in the university examinations. In 2017, a student of the department bagged third rank in the university examinations. All faculty of the department attend at least one faculty development program in every academic year to keep abreast of the advancement in the field, enhancing new methodologies in the teaching learning process etc. Students are also encouraged to actively participate in technical and social activities, to mould them to nation building engineers.

Laboratory Facilities

The Electrical & Electronics Engineering Department has excellent laboratory infrastructural facilities and the students are trained in the following laboratories to enhance their practical skills. Some of them are:

This lab introduces the students to the basic electrical measuring equipment and they will deal with some of the frequently used instruments and equipment, like the digital multimeter, tester etc. The students obtain the basic knowledge about different types of wiring circuits, behavior of current, voltage, power, energy under different conditions and their determination. They can also gain knowledge about residential wiring, trouble shooting various electrical equipment like ceiling fan, other electrical gadgets. These experiments help to provide them the foundation they require to be Electrical engineers.

The Electrical Machines Laboratory is set up with a vision to support the teaching and research activities of Electrical and Electronics Engineering Department. The Laboratory is equipped with a collection of AC & DC. This lab helps the students to develop experimental skill, familiarize with the constructional details of different types, working principle and performance of different Electrical Machines.

A variety of digital circuits like adders, counters, multi-vibrators etc are designed and set up here. This lab is currently running with large no. of digital trainer kits as per the current strength of students. List of Important Machinery and Equipment: Digital circuits trainer kits, Power supply boards for trainer kits, Digital IC.

20 computer systems are available in the lab. The students do experiments in software (C programming). The lab also cater the needs of students for doing their project work in the final semester.

This laboratory is equipped with the power system components employed in the real world. The simulation of power systems can be done in any of the software available in the lab. The testing of any power system equipment can be done within the capacity of each testing equipment. The testing kits in the lab are the same as that used by the International standard testing labs.

The main focus of Control and Simulation Laboratory is in supporting the teaching and research activities of The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, under Control Division. The laboratory is equipped with up to date equipment’s and software’s to support our under graduates experiments, students projects and research projects etc.

The Measurements Laboratory is set up with a vision to support the teaching and learning activities of Electrical and Electronics Engineering Department. It set up with a vision to enhance students to learn the basic concepts in Electrical Engineering. The Laboratory is equipped with a collection of AC & DC. This lab helps the students to develop experimental skill, familiarize with the constructional details of different types, working principle and performance of different electrical meters, bridges and trainer kits.

Electronics Circuits Laboratory is set up with a vision to support the teaching and learning activities of Electrical and Electronics Engineering Department. It is set up with a vision to enhance students to impart practical Knowledge for the design and setup of different Electronics Circuits using discrete components and OPAMPS. This lab helps the students to develop experimental skill, familiarize with the constructional details of different types, working principle and performance of different electronic circuits using BJTs and OPAMPS.

The main focus of Power Electronics and Drives Laboratory is in supporting the teaching and research activities of The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering under Power Electronics division. The laboratory is equipped with up to date equipment’s and software’s to support our under graduates experiments, students projects and research projects etc. This helps the students to impart practical Knowledge for the design and setup of different power electronic converters and its application for motor control. There are also the provision for the simulation of various power electronic converters ,AC drives and DC Drives.
